Thin Blue Paw Foundation, a new charity, provides financial support to retired and servicing police dogs and their owners. Police dogs are not able to get pet insurance cover due to their working life so the cost of their care falls to their new owner or ex-handler which can amount to thousands.
A retired police dog Finn, named as the charity’s official ambassador was stabbed in the line of duty in 2016. Finn, now a retired police dog, appeared in the 2019 series of Britain’s Got Talent.
When launching the new national charity in 2020, the trustees were keen to have a modern online donor experience to cater for all audiences. It was also important that the online donation system could handle significant spikes in traffic from TV media coverage.
They chose goDonate as they particularly liked the goDonate implementation for Battersea. The full end to end experience was implemented including the ability to process direct debits via our native integration with goCardless, the leading direct debit provider who process direct debits for over 2,000 charities.
This has to be the best platform we have used and has transformed donations for us as a small charity 😊
