Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Start Date: ASAP
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on observability to join our team at goDonate, working across both a high-profile global charity platform and our wider goDonate product ecosystem.
Our platforms support charities raising funds around the world — across multiple countries, languages, currencies, and payment methods — meaning reliability and performance directly impact real-world causes and communities.
This role is less about heavy infrastructure build and more about understanding platform behaviour, cost, performance, security, and reliability — using data, monitoring, and insight to ensure everything runs smoothly.
You’ll take the lead in shaping how we monitor, detect, and respond to issues, helping us proactively identify problems and continuously improve platform performance and stability, and you’ll report directly to the CTO.
What You’ll Be Doing
Observability & Monitoring (Core Focus)
- Leading the selection, implementation and optimisation of an enterprise observability platform across multiple systems
- Defining and tracking key metrics, alerts, and dashboards to monitor platform health
- Analysis of logs, metrics, and traces to identify issues, trends, and performance bottlenecks
- Proactively monitoring platforms to detect and respond to issues before they impact users
- Working with developers to investigate root causes and improve system reliability
- Continuously improving how we measure and understand platform performance, ensuring supporters have a smooth donation experience
Platform & Incident Support
- Monitoring day-to-day platform activity across multiple environments and clients
- Investigating issues and either resolving directly or escalating to development teams
- Supporting incident management and helping improve response processes and reporting
- Providing ongoing insight and reporting on platform performance and stability
- Playing a key role in maintaining trust and reliability for platforms used by charities worldwide
Cloud & Infrastructure Support
- Working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments (Cloud Run, Message Queues, Data Storage)
- Supporting day-to-day hosting activities such as server and software patching, maintenance, and environment health checks
- Helping ensure systems are secure, stable, and well-maintained
- Collaborating with developers on deployments, releases, and environment configuration
Tech You’ll Work With
Observability & Monitoring
- The selected Observability Platform
- GCP Logging, metrics, and tracing systems
- Windows IIS and Event Logs and Web Application Logs
- SQL Server
- Solarwinds Web Application Monitoring
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – essential
- (Traditional) Windows Server Hosting
- Linux-based serverless and container-based environments
General Tools
- SQL Server
- Ticketing/support tools (e.g. Zendesk, Monday)
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in a DevOps, SRE, or observability-focused role
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools
- Experience working in Google Cloud Platform (or strong transferable experience from AWS/Azure)
- A data-driven mindset — comfortable working with metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in live production environments
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures and as well as traditional hosting environments
- A proactive approach — you spot issues before they become problems
- A pragmatic and commercial mindset – able to balance requirements against costs of implementing them
- Strong collaboration skills, working closely with developers and product teams
- An interest in building technology that supports charities and meaningful causes
Nice to Have
- Experience with incident management and response processes
- Familiarity with payment or ecommerce platforms
- Experience working across multiple products or client environments
- Interest in improving performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
